MUGA Floodlighting Design and Lighting Requirements

Effective MUGA floodlighting must provide suitable lighting conditions for each of the sporting activities taking place within the facility.

As Multi-Use Games Areas are designed to accommodate several different sports, each with its own lighting requirements, careful consideration must be given to achieving the correct balance of illumination, uniformity and visibility.

Unless sufficient funding is available to install separate lighting systems for individual sports, complete with appropriate switching controls, a carefully designed lighting solution is required to accommodate all activities.

Fortunately, as most MUGAs are primarily used for recreational sport, training and physical education, their lighting requirements are generally less demanding than those of professional competition facilities.

This means it is usually possible to design a single, efficient floodlighting system that provides satisfactory lighting conditions for all intended activities, while balancing performance, practicality and installation costs.
